Fight the virus not the people
Knowledge can save lives. Myths around HIV and AIDS can mean death for young people feeling pressured to have unprotected sex. PWRDF partner CoCoSi (Brains-Yes) is a youth group in El Salvador that is working at breaking these myths by talking openly about HIV and AIDS in a country where sex is rarely talked about and where the very existence of the virus is questioned. CoCoSi works in CabaƱas province, El Salvador, and four communities in Honduras. It runs workshops in schools with teachers, students, parents and health professionals, in military detachments and in prisons. The group accompanies those living with HIV and AIDS. These young people are taking control of their lives and proving that discussing difficult topics can make a difference.
