Charity lives in Kenya where she is raising her 2 year-old daughter and six younger siblings. Eight years ago her father died of AIDS. Charity was 13 at the time. A few years later, her mother also died. Now 21, Charity feels anxious and burdened by the responsibility of caring for so many. She is worried and wishes her relatives could help by caring for some of her siblings. So far they have not agreed. Charity does not have a stable source of income. Charity is a beneficiary of PWRDF’s partner,Christian Community Services (CCS), a grassroots agency run by the Anglican Church of Kenya. CCS runs a multi-faceted HIV and AIDS program. They educate people about AIDS - how to prevent it, how to treat it. They promote gardening methods and good nutrition. They run clinics that test people and provide them with medications. They organize support groups of widows who care for orphans and provide vocational training.
