Impact of rejection
John MacTavish, Executive Director of HIV/AIDS Regional Services (HARS) spoke of his experiences as a person living with HIV. He talked of the stigma and rejection he faced among the small rural community he grew up in. “It was heartbreaking, to wake-up one day and find that the people you were so used to were now afraid of you,� said MacTavish.
