Nat's enelu:Let's Sew November 7, 2001
PWRDF
Canada: Indigenous Development Pew Bulletin Story 2001
Nats' enelu, a non-profit society in Fort Simpson, North West Territories, has trained over one hundred artisans in the revival art of Dene Doll making. Generating the interest and involvement of Dene youth, local elders introduce and teach the intricacies and unique craft technique of the Nahendeh region. Nats' enelu has also expanded its traditional hide purchasing to remote northern communities to keep up with the demand for their products.
Local and regional moose hunters regularly sell raw hides to Nats' enelu, who then contracts local elders to train them. These types of transactions and employment outlet did not exist before in the region.
