Ecumenical HIV/AIDS Initiative in Africa
Local church leaders come together and receive training on pastoral care for people living with AIDS and their families. In communities in Nampula Mozambique, the churches are playing an important role in the fight against AIDS.

Activities include: counseling; prevention; information/education/communication (IEC) for adolescents; children; commercial sex workers; indigenous populations; men; orphans; persons living with HIV/AIDS; street youth; women; religious leaders; clergy.
Summary
This region-wide program provides an opportunity to understand the role of the church in the fight against stigma and discrimination by placing the issue in a theological context. EHAIA helps churches and clergy to develop a curriculum around theology of HIV and AIDS; organizes regional Training of Trainers (TOT) for integration of curriculum in theological training institutions; and animates workshops on the theology of compassion for clergy and church leaders.
What difference does PWRDF partnership make?
PWRDF is part of an ecumenical effort to address HIV and AIDS issues in Africa. PWRDF contribution has allowed the work of EHAIA to be strengthened.
