The Peace Book by Todd Parr
Ages 3-6 This colorful and simple book is a good introduction to a holistic vision of peace and could be used with older children for a deeper discussion about what 's involved in peace beyond the end of conflict.

Activity for ages 3-6

Read The Peace Book together.  This book is a good discussion starter about all the ingredients that work together to make the world more peaceful.  PWRDF is a part of how the church works to help this happen in the world.  Make some playdough and create a few of your favorite pages.

1 cup flour
1 cup of water
1/2 cup of salt
2 tablespoons cream of tarter

I believe that behind the mist the sun waits.
I believe that beyond the dark night it is raining stars ...
They will not rob me of hope,
it shall not be broken ...
It shall not be broken.
Janet Morley

Activity for ages 10-15: Peace Reflection.

Look at the two verses -- Say No to Peace by Brian Wren, and It Shall Not Be Broken by Janet Morley -- and write your own reflection on peace and hope.  Use poetry or song-writing, or a journal style entry.

PWRDF Story: Standing Up and Walking With Friends

“You are not Alone” Accompaniment Project
PWRDF provides support to the Co-ordination for International Accompaniment (CAIG) in Guatemala. CAIG is a collaboration among ten accompaniment groups from nine countries. Its mission is to improve the human rights situation in Guatemala by providing a dissuasive, international presence and impartial observation of at-risk human rights defenders. Currently there are 16 accompaniers who provide accompaniment to local human rights activists, witnesses in legal human rights violation cases and community leaders who are in danger.
